The family of a Sheffield United supporter who passed away after being struck by a vehicle while en route to a football match has expressed their profound grief, stating they are “devastated” by his passing. Jordan Hattersley, 36, was walking towards Bramall Lane on November 29 for the Championship club’s home fixture against Sunderland when a red Lexus hit him on Suffolk Road. The father-of-one, who was accompanied by his father and two younger siblings at the time, succumbed to his injuries in hospital earlier this month, according to South Yorkshire Police. Authorities have reiterated their call for individuals who witnessed the collision to come forward. In a statement released via the police, Richard Hattersley, Jordan’s father, conveyed that his son, who was born in Sheffield and later moved to Rotherham during his teenage years, held a deep “devotion” to Sheffield United. He remarked, “It was his main outlet after his family.” Richard further added, “He was following his passion, and at the matches he was an inspiration and role model to his brother and sister. “We are all devastated by his loss.”” Mr. Hattersley, a computer engineer, had married his partner, Kirsty, in June of this year. Kirsty characterized him as an “all-round good person” and highlighted that he provided the “gift of life this Christmas” through the donation of his organs to others following his death. She lamented, “We thought we had time. We should have had time. “We were at the height of our relationship, on cloud nine and just high on life and it’s all been ripped away in a split second.”” Police officers have urged anyone possessing dashcam footage of the incident to contact them.
