A family has expressed that securing the return of their missing cocker spaniel for Christmas would “mean the world” to them, following a search spanning over a month. Concerns are now growing that Henry, a two-year-old dog, may have been stolen, having vanished at the end of November near his Bridgnorth, Shropshire, home while pursuing pheasants. Rachel Symons, Henry’s owner, stated she was “just so exhausted” from the extensive search efforts, and her 13-year-old son, Sidney, was “beside himself” with distress, to the point of saying he “didn’t even want to do Christmas”. Despite this, Ms. Symons noted she felt “overwhelmed” by the nationwide support the family has received. According to Ms. Symons, a “massive campaign” has been launched to locate Henry. This initiative has involved the distribution of over 2,000 flyers across the country, the placement of banners on major roads, and the creation of a Facebook group dedicated to soliciting support and reports of sightings. “There’s a lot of people upset,” Ms. Symons further commented. Volunteers have undertaken searches in the rural areas surrounding the family’s residence, and a reward has been put forward for the spaniel’s safe return. Numerous potential sightings have been reported, though all have subsequently been dismissed. Lisa Dean, the coordinator of the search operation, remarked: “We are looking more and more towards Henry being stolen.” She has shared two contact numbers on Facebook, encouraging individuals to provide information, with the option to remain anonymous if desired.
