Keyboardist Sister Bliss stated that Faithless’ new album and accompanying tour serve as an “homage” to the group’s late member, Maxi Jazz. The British dance ensemble, established in 1995, is scheduled to perform at the Brighton Centre on 9 November as part of their 21-date tour. Sister Bliss described the return to performing after an eight-year break as an “amazing feeling,” but also acknowledged that playing without London-born Maxi felt “quite strange.” “I keep expecting him to come out on stage and do his iconic, charismatic, frontman thing, and it’s always quite an odd feeling,” she said. Maxi Jazz died “peacefully in his sleep” in 2022 at the age of 65. Despite his absence, the band’s eighth studio album, *Champion Sound*, which was featured at various shows and festivals throughout the summer, has been met with a positive reception from fans, who have “responded well.” Sister Bliss commented, “It’s just amazing to see the response in the audience, and it spans all the generations.” She attributed this broad appeal to “streaming,” noting that “music doesn’t have context anymore.” The musician observed that her 18-year-old son and his friends also listen to ’90s house music. “It’s not ’90s house music to them, it’s just good music,” she explained.
