The Sugar Hut nightclub, known for its features on an Essex reality television program, is now available for purchase with an asking price of £3.85 million. Located in Brentwood, Essex, the venue commenced operations in 2004 and was previously owned by Mick Norcross, a personality from The Only Way is Essex (TOWIE), who subsequently sold it prior to his passing in 2021. According to an online advertisement, the four-story structure holds Grade II listed status and features an “attractive” courtyard. Simon Ryan, who was featured in the initial season of the ITV program, noted that the nightclub drew visitors internationally, alongside notable figures including Pamela Anderson, Teddy Sheringham, and Frank Lampard. During an interview on BBC Essex, Mr. Ryan characterized the establishment as being “almost a Mayfair club in Essex.” He remarked, “It was a fantastic experience but good things have to come to an end.” Mr. Ryan further shared that he held numerous memories of “celebrating life” at the Sugar Hut, and expressed that its cessation as a nightclub would signify “the end of an era.” Michael Kill, chief executive of the Night Time Industries Association (NTIA), stated: “Nightclubs have had the hardest run over the last five years.” He further indicated his belief that no nightclubs would remain operational by 31 December 2029 if the current rate of closures persists, attributing this trend to “high operation costs and people having less disposable income.” Mr. Ryan speculated that the premises might “potentially be turned into flats,” but also conveyed his wish for the Sugar Hut signage to be preserved.
