Chelsea manager Enzo Maresca addressed reporters ahead of Saturday’s Premier League fixture against Leicester, scheduled for 12:30 GMT. The following are the main points from his press conference: Captain Reece James will not be available for the match against Leicester due to what Maresca characterized as a short-term injury. Maresca stated: “He felt something small and we don’t want to take any risk. It’s hamstring – a muscle problem.” Regarding James’ recurring injury problems, Maresca commented: “I know it’s not easy but if every time [James] gets an injury, it becomes harder for him. He has to accept and try to avoid as much as he can. Sometimes things happen even if you want to avoid [them]. Hopefully he can be available for the next one.” The Chelsea manager indicated that James represents his sole injury worry. Addressing inquiries about the condition of Cole Palmer and Levi Colwill, both of whom withdrew from the England national team, he responded: “Some of them are better, some we will check today. On the whole, most are much better because of the break.” Maresca expressed admiration for Joao Felix’s displays for Portugal, particularly his goal against Croatia, stating: “Joao did fantastic. He is doing well but needs to find that balance. Today, 48 hours before the game, is the first time we get to work with 12, 13, 14 players. It’s not easy, but we are trying.” Regarding his return to the club where he secured the Championship title last season, Maresca remarked: “I’m excited and thankful. It was a fantastic season. The owner, his family are fantastic people. They care for players, staff, all of the people that work in the club. You can see that. I’m still in contact with them.” Reflecting on his career path since departing the Foxes, he said: “”I don’t know if I’m better or worse, but I’m always curious to see things and study. That’s the only thing I focus on.””
