Tens of thousands of unpaid carers residing in Surrey are set to receive additional assistance. Surrey County Council (SCC) reports that a minimum of 90,000 individuals within the county offer unpaid care to friends, family members, or neighbours. A new initiative will grant these carers access to diverse free on-demand services, designed to “support individuals with the day-to-day realities of caring”. An SCC spokesperson stated that this initiative would offer a “complementary layer of added support that can be accessed remotely via an online hub”. Among the new services available to carers are: Martin, a Surrey-based carer who provides care for their partner, commented: “It’s great to know that there is a wide community of carers who can, without judgement, share their honest views and experiences on such a wide range of topics. “It’s reassuring to know that there are like-minded people out there and that we’re not alone.” Sinead Mooney, SCC cabinet member for adult social care, remarked: “Carers play a crucial role in families and in our local communities by supporting people who would otherwise struggle to cope alone, which is why it’s so important for us to make sure carers themselves are cared for.” Post navigation Kent Care Home Placed in Special Measures Following CQC Report on Resident Safety Senior Doctor Describes Covid Pressures at Wales’ Oldest Hospital
