Security personnel at the Broadway Shopping Centre in Bradford have been granted additional authority through a collaborative initiative with the police. Under the Community Safety Accreditation Scheme, these staff members will possess the right to request names and addresses from individuals suspected of offenses. The chief constable of West Yorkshire Police and the deputy mayor for policing officially approved the necessary licences and training for the security guards at the Broadway. Over the past few weeks, joint patrols involving security staff and police community support officers have been conducted to provide increased reassurance within the centre. Insp Justin Adams, who heads the Bradford city neighbourhood policing team, stated: “We welcome the Broadway having security staff trained through the Community Safety Accreditation Scheme.” He continued: “This is a great initiative aimed at reducing anti-social behaviour by working in partnership.” Adams added: “Improved information sharing between us and the shopping centre will improve people’s experience coming into the city centre.” Jonathan McVicar, the deputy manager from the Broadway Shopping Centre, commented: “This is a great partnership which we are proud to be a part of.” He further explained: “We have worked closely with the police and our team to deliver this programme which will help to further protect our customers and staff.” McVicar concluded: “This is a great way forward to ensure we remain a welcoming and family friendly shopping environment.” Post navigation Man charged with murder of 69-year-old woman attends court hearing Man receives suspended sentence for upskirting incident at Metro station
