Leicester City Council has announced that supplementary park and ride services will be available on Sundays throughout December to facilitate access for shoppers to Leicester city centre during the Christmas period. These special services will operate from the three existing locations: Enderby, Meynell’s Gorse, and Birstall, on the initial four Sundays of December. The services are scheduled to run every 15 minutes from 10:00 to 17:30 GMT. However, park and ride services will not be available on Christmas Day, Boxing Day, December 29, or New Year’s Day. Standard park and ride operations run from Monday to Saturday, between 07:00 and 19:00, with buses departing every quarter of an hour. The price for an Adult Day ticket is £3.50. A Park and Ride Group Ticket, which covers up to five individuals traveling in the same vehicle, is priced at £4. Reduced concessionary fares are available for £1, while children under the age of five and individuals holding an NHS pass can travel without charge. A family flexi ticket permits up to two adults and three children unlimited travel for the entire day, costing £11 during school term periods and £8 during school holidays. Travelers have the option to use their bank card for contactless payment by tapping on and off, eliminating the necessity of purchasing a ticket in advance. The city council also stated that complimentary travel is offered on the Hop! shuttle service, which operates from 08:00 to 18:00, Monday through Saturday.
