As of next week, driving instructors in Guernsey who present students for practical examinations will be required to have successfully undergone an enhanced Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS) check. This protective measure, according to the States of Guernsey, is scheduled to commence on 18 November. A DBS check serves as a mechanism for employers to review an individual’s criminal history. The States reported that most instructors have already fulfilled this requirement, and those who had not yet done so received a reminder. This initiative, it was stated, is integrated into the Government Work Plan, aiming to ensure compliance with the Vienna Convention on Road Traffic. Deputy Lindsay de Sausmarez, who serves as the President of the Committee for the Environment and Infrastructure, commented: “We take assurance from knowing that those taking care of our children and young people in other activities are under the care of people who have completed these checks.” “We should be able to have this same level of assurance and peace of mind for those learning to drive.” Post navigation Court Appearance for Women Accused of Harassing MP Concerning Gaza Kent Police and Crime Commissioner Requests Funding Allocation Review
