English golfer Marco Penge has been issued a ban by the DP World Tour due to his involvement in placing wagers on multiple events. Last season, Penge concluded the DP World Tour race in 110th position, thereby securing his participation card for the upcoming season. The tour clarified that the 26-year-old did not place bets on himself or on any tournaments in which he was a participant. Consequently, the tour’s disciplinary panel concluded that the integrity of the events Penge bet on “had not been compromised.” Penge, who recently finished his inaugural full year on the European-based tour, has been handed a three-month suspension, with one month of this period suspended for a year. Additionally, he incurred a fine of £2,000. Penge successfully maintained his DP World Tour status during the final regular competition of the previous season, following a tense week at the Genesis Championship held in South Korea. Requiring a strong finish to safeguard his playing privileges, Penge sank a five-foot putt to make the weekend cut, ultimately finishing in 22nd place. This performance earned him sufficient points to rank 110th in the seasonal standings, allowing him to retain his card with a margin of four places. Penge’s suspension commenced on 13 December, which means he is eligible to resume competition from mid-February.
