Team England achieved a seventh-place ranking in the world para surfing championships, with contributions from four surfers representing Devon and Cornwall. The 9th ISA World Para Surfing Championships took place in Huntington Beach, California, featuring over 150 para surfers from 24 countries. Charlotte Banfield, from Truro, James Price, from Torquay, and Suzanne Edwards and Harlum Lewis, both from Braunton, all participated in the week-long event. Banfield successfully defended her world title in the stand three category, while Edwards secured fourth position in the prone (non-assist) division. Price, who began the sport only in May, stated that he “had scored on some of the biggest waves he had ever surfed.” Harlum Lewis, competing in his second world championships, also delivered a strong performance.
