Aston Villa manager Unai Emery shared his thoughts with Sky Sports following the team’s significant defeat. He explained that his analysis extends beyond just this single match, noting the team’s consistent improvement since his arrival two years ago. Emery described the recent game against Chelsea, along with a previous fixture against Liverpool, as valuable assessments of their current standing. Emery acknowledged that at the start of the season, some teams, including Chelsea, were perceived as stronger. He stated the team’s goal is to “keep the balance and not be frustrated.” The immediate focus is on their next match, with Emery adding, “We are going to try again to recover our confidence for Wednesday against Brentford.” Addressing the team’s current winless streak, Emery affirmed, “We believe completely in our work.” He also highlighted their positive experience in the Champions League and noted that their league position is “more or less where we were [last season].” Emery described the upcoming game against Brentford as a test, stating, “Our challenge is to fight on Wednesday with Brentford and see how our level is with Brentford.” He expressed confidence that with remaining matches, the team will “recover our confidence, trying to build the team.” He further emphasized the need for improvement, asserting, “We have to try to be better than we are being now. We can individually do better.” Regarding goalkeeper Emi Martinez, who was substituted at half-time due to injury, Emery provided an update: “We don’t know exactly, hopefully it’s not a lot. We don’t know.”
