A collection of personal belongings once owned by Elvis Presley, featuring a jumpsuit described as “still has sweat marks on it”, is scheduled for auction in Grimsby. Comprising 100 lots of Elvis memorabilia, all sourced from a single collector, with 40 items identified as personal, these objects will be sold by Prestige Auctions on December 11. Among the items are the American singer and actor’s silver ring, one of his preferred cigars, his father’s wristwatch, and a section of the microphone stand utilized for recording some of his popular songs. Carl Vince, who is both the auctioneer and proprietor of Prestige Auctions, stated that his firm felt “very privileged” to have been selected by the consignor to conduct the sale of these items. Mr. Vince further noted that the provenance of the items was “from reputable sources, with strict authenticity from leading groups.” He mentioned that the client offering the memorabilia for sale resided outside the Grimsby area and had been amassing the collection since the 1960s. Mr. Vince conveyed the client’s sentiment: “The client said he’s loved the collection for many years but no members of his family have any interest in it so it’s time to go to other collectors who enjoy it.” He also remarked, “We are very privileged to have this auction, it could have gone to many big auction rooms but he chose to keep it local.” According to Mr. Vince, the auction is anticipated to draw global interest, with the organizers aiming to “put the spotlight on Grimsby.” Prestige Auctions released a YouTube video last week to publicize the upcoming Elvis auction. A preview of the auction items is scheduled for December 6, a day when the auction house also intends to host an open mic session featuring Elvis impersonators performing his music.
