An assortment of Elvis Presley collectibles achieved a total of over £14,000 when sold at auction. Comprising 99 lots, all sourced from a single owner, these Elvis memorabilia items, many described as personal, were auctioned on Wednesday at Prestige Auctions in Grimsby. Among the items were the American singer and actor’s silver ring, a partially smoked cigar, his father’s wristwatch, and an ornate white jumpsuit, which fetched £400. Additional items featured a “Science Of Religion” book, reportedly owned by Elvis himself and containing his handwritten marginal notes, which sold for £2,600. A sterling silver ring, owned and worn by Elvis Presley during the mid to late 1960s, achieved £1,200. Furthermore, a partially smoked German-branded cigar, given to the collector by Elvis in 1972 just before the singer entered the lift at The Oakland Hilton Inn, sold for £170. Before the auction, Carl Vince, who is both the auctioneer and owner of Prestige Auctions, stated that the client offering the memorabilia for sale had been accumulating it since the 1960s. Mr Vince further commented, “The client said he’s loved the collection for many years but no members of his family have any interest in it so it’s time to go to other collectors who enjoy it.” Earlier in the current year, a pair of blue suede shoes previously worn by Elvis fetched £120,000. The singer utilized this footwear both on and off stage throughout the 1950s, notably during a guest appearance on the Steve Allen television show. The sale was conducted by auctioneers Henry Aldridge & Son, located in Devizes. In 2020, a strand of hair from the iconic singer was sold for £4,000.
