A council team will seek public input regarding an open space adjacent to a high street, with an Elton John tribute act providing entertainment. Wolverhampton City Council plans to collect feedback on the area near Bilston High Street by establishing a stand close to the Horse & Jockey pub during the Christmas lights switch-on event on Friday. The objective is to solicit opinions on proposed improvements for the Bilston High Street Link. The council stated that its team would be accompanied by Ultimate Elton, who is participating in the lights switch-on event. Ultimate Elton will be accessible for song requests and photographs with visitors as they examine the proposed plans. The Bilston High Street Link is defined as the open area that links a leisure centre and a broader Urban Village development to the central town area. Councillor Chris Burden, cabinet member for city development, skills and jobs, commented, “It’s an ideal opportunity to invite people to give their feedback about another exciting development.” Ultimate Elton, alongside the Mayor of Wolverhampton Councillor Linda Leach and Santa, will officially activate the Christmas lights. Amy Whitehouse, the manager for the Bilston business improvement district, remarked: “We are very pleased that City of Wolverhampton Council has chosen this magical event to talk to residents across Bilston. “They’ll be close to Santa’s Grotto and the Christmas Tree, so they are easy to find.”” Ms Whitehouse further stated: “Bilston Christmas Lights switch-on is always a fun event that draws a crowd with entertainment and a great opportunity to get Christmas shopping under way.”” The public consultation is also accessible online and will remain open until 31 December.
