Elliott Reflects on Liverpool’s Team Effort and Southampton Challenge

Speaking to Sky Sports, Liverpool’s Harvey Elliott stated that the team was prepared for Southampton’s determined approach, acknowledging the opponent’s circumstances. He noted that some Liverpool players had seen limited game time this season and the squad included “really young lads.” Elliott concluded, “But we fought as a team and thankfully we came away with a win.” Regarding Southampton’s display, Elliott remarked, “I wouldn’t say I was surprised by it because if you look at the Premier League, they caused problems for us as well.” He characterized Southampton as “a side full of confidence and they are not scared to play out from the back and take risks.” Elliott added, “Credit to them, they caused problems for us today.” He emphasized Liverpool’s need to “make sure we stood strong and defended as well as we can as a team,” asserting that “And despite conceding one goal, we did that really well.”
