Elderly Woman Dies Following Accidental Flat Fire

An octogenarian woman has passed away subsequent to a blaze that occurred in a ground-floor apartment, as reported by the fire service. Cambridgeshire Fire and Rescue Service stated they received notification of the incident at approximately 11:07 GMT on Thursday, at an address on Malletts Road in Cherry Hinton, Cambridge. Two fire crews from Cambridge, alongside the south roaming fire engine, were dispatched to the scene. The service indicated that the fire originated in a bedroom and is thought to have been inadvertently ignited by smoking materials.
