Elderly Woman, 77, Seriously Injured in Street Robbery

An elderly woman, aged 77, sustained serious injuries following a street mugging in Sheffield. According to South Yorkshire Police, the incident occurred on Tuesday at 10:55 GMT on Shiregreen Lane, close to Concord Sports Centre, where a man assaulted the woman, leaving her unconscious on the pavement. Her bag and purse were discovered abandoned in the vicinity; approximately £50 and a bank card are believed to have been taken. A spokesperson for the police force confirmed that the woman was transported to a hospital due to her severe injuries, and she was still receiving care there as of Thursday afternoon. Authorities urged any witnesses or individuals possessing dashcam or CCTV footage to contact them.
