An elderly man passed away after his vehicle drove into water during Storm Bert. Lancashire Police reported that the man, in his 80s, was retrieved by emergency personnel from water at approximately 16:15 GMT on Saturday, on Cockhill Lane, Foulridge, Colne, the site of Noyna Ford. He was transported to a hospital, where his death was confirmed. A woman, also in her 80s, was also rescued from the water. She is currently hospitalized, and her medical condition is reported as not life threatening. The Lancashire Fire and Rescue Service dispatched two fire engines to the location. Firefighters from Nelson and Penwortham, who are members of specialist swift water rescue teams, participated in the operation, supported by a boat from Preston. Police stated that the man’s demise is not considered suspicious, and a report will be forwarded to the coroner. Across the UK, heavy rainfall has resulted in some flooding of residences and roadways, particularly in Wales, with over 100 flood warnings issued throughout Britain.
