An 81-year-old man has died in Nottinghamshire after being involved in a collision with a lorry. Authorities stated they responded to an incident on North Road in Retford at approximately 09:30 GMT on Wednesday. The road remains closed to motorists in both directions, specifically between the junctions of Leafield and Fulford Avenue. Police indicated that the road closure would persist “for some time” as investigations into the incident are conducted. Sergeant Mark Baker, a member of the force’s serious collision investigation unit, stated: “This was a tragic and upsetting incident for everyone involved and we are currently working to understand what happened.” He further added: “Our thoughts today are with the victim’s family who will be supported in the days ahead by specially trained officers.” The police force has appealed for any witnesses with information that could assist the investigation to come forward.
