Firefighters successfully rescued an elderly couple, both in their 70s, whose vehicle had become immobilized in floodwater. Suffolk Fire and Rescue Service received the alert for Waterhall Road, located in Wixoe, at 13:32 GMT on Monday. Personnel, equipped with specialized flood suits, assisted the couple in exiting their car. Both individuals were reported to be unharmed following the incident. Two fire engines, dispatched from Haverhill and Newmarket respectively, were present at the scene.
