Coventry City midfielder Josh Eccles expressed optimism about “exciting times” for the club, even after their defeat to Burnley and the ongoing three-week search for a new head coach. The Sky Blues experienced a 2-0 loss at Turf Moor on Tuesday evening, which marked the third match under interim manager Rhys Carr following the dismissal of Mark Robins. Eccles characterized the outcome as “disappointing” but stated his belief that the club’s current uncertainty has not influenced recent performance levels. Speaking to BBC Radio CWR’s Sky Blues Fancast, Eccles commented, “I wouldn’t say it’s affected the boys. I think the coaches and staff here have kept us at ease. Rhys has been tremendous, and he said if I hear anything, I’ll be the first one to tell you. We’re still waiting. It’s exciting times, but who knows what can happen and when.” Eccles asserted that Coventry possesses the “fighting spirit” necessary to persevere even after conceding a goal, and he is already focused on the upcoming match against Cardiff on Saturday as an opportunity to recover. Eccles further remarked, “They’re below us, so it’s going to be a massive six-pointer, shall we say. I feel like we’ve got to take the anger and disappointment out of this game and put it to the game on Saturday. We’ve got to go and smash them. Obviously, it’s at home, so we know we’re going to have the fans backing us and put on a good performance and get the three points and see if we can get the clean sheet as well.” Post navigation Lewis Hall Reacts to England Debut: “Lost for Words” Performance of Burnley’s International Players
