Hornets midfielder Festy Ebosele contributed to the Republic of Ireland’s Nations League victory during his inaugural start for his country on Thursday. The 22-year-old, who hails from County Wexford, was on the field for 76 minutes, operating on the right flank, as the home side secured a victory against Finland with a single goal at the Aviva Arena. He aims to retain his position for the upcoming match against England at Wembley on Sunday, scheduled for 17:00 GMT. Ebosele, previously with Derby and currently on loan from Udinese this season, was among eight Watford players selected for senior international commitments this week. Additionally, Vakoun Bayo, currently in good form, received a call-up from the Ivory Coast, marking his first selection in six years. Edo Kayembe and Mamadou Doumbia are also participating in AFCON duties, representing the Democratic Republic of Congo and Mali, respectively. Ryan Porteous is fulfilling his international obligations with Scotland in the Nations League. Meanwhile, Giorgi Chakvetadze is playing for Georgia, Ken Sema for Sweden, and Francisco Sierralta is involved in Chile’s efforts to qualify for the 2026 World Cup.
