Motorists in East Sussex may encounter revised speed limits on certain routes, forming part of a £500,000 safety initiative. Efforts to reduce traffic speeds are already underway, with East Sussex County Council having identified 16 roads as priorities for either lowering speed limits or enhancing the effectiveness of current limits. Specific projects on the B2087 in Flimwell, the A272 in Hadlow Down, and the A275 in Danehill are, as stated, “designed to improve compliance with the existing 30mph speed limits”. The council verified that none of the 16 locations will see the implementation of 20mph speed limits. Instead, the initiative suggests various speed limit decreases on A and B class roads, encompassing the establishment of new 30mph, 40mph, and 50mph speed limits. Furthermore, public consultations regarding proposed speed limit reductions at an additional 13 sites throughout the county are scheduled to commence in the New Year. According to the council, these particular schemes are slated for implementation during the initial two years of its three-year speed management programme. Additional sites will undergo evaluation and prioritization, with modifications to be introduced in subsequent years. Claire Dowling, who serves as the council’s lead member for transport and environment, commented: “The council has done a great deal of work in recent years to change driver behaviour and make East Sussex roads safer.” The specific 13 road sections designated for consultation include: Post navigation Trump Appoints Personal Lawyers to Key Justice Department Positions Brighton & Hove City Council to Assess Permanent Reintroduction of Parking Machines
