The ‘East Suffolk Through the Lens’ photography competition, organized by East Suffolk Council, is making its return for another year, welcoming both amateur and professional enthusiasts of all ages. This contest aims to provide photographers with an opportunity to showcase their preferred views within the district through their lenses. Last year’s winning photograph, “Early Morning Swim at Southwold Beach” by Tim Bennett, was recognized by judges for its “striking colour, light, and tranquillity.” Participants are encouraged to capture the essence of the district by photographing its buildings, landscapes, wildlife, and people. Caroline Topping, Green leader of East Suffolk Council, stated: “Last year proved that we have some extremely talented photographers here in East Suffolk, and I am looking forward to seeing more this year. Our district is filled with beautiful landscapes and incredible wildlife, all waiting to be captured through the lens. It could be an image that perfectly encapsulates daily life in East Suffolk, or a moment that reminds all of us how amazing our district is.” Submissions must be made via the East Suffolk Through the Lens online entry form before midnight on January 30. Previous entries will not be considered. The overall winner’s photograph will be featured on the cover of East Suffolk Magazine, which is delivered to every household in the district next spring. Winners are scheduled to be announced during the week commencing February 17. The overall winner will also receive a £100 high street voucher. Additionally, one winning entrant under the age of 16 will be chosen to receive a high street voucher worth £75, while three runners-up will each be awarded a high street voucher worth £25. The previous seven-week competition, which ran from December 11 to January 28, garnered more than 350 entries. For updates on Suffolk news, follow BBC Sounds, Facebook, Instagram, and X.
