Dundee’s Mexican defender Antonio Portales began his career within Monterrey’s academy system. Separately, Dundee and the Mexican club Monterrey have revealed a strategic partnership aimed at providing “benefit both clubs in player development.” The club based at Dens Park additionally indicated that this arrangement is expected to “open a pathway to European football” for young talents emerging from the Monterrey academy. Earlier in the current year, Dundee established a similar collaborative agreement with English Championship team Burnley.
