The Duke of Edinburgh engaged with children, volunteers, and various community groups during a visit to an art gallery and museum located in Surrey. Prince Edward conducted a tour of the Lightbox Gallery & Museum in Woking on Tuesday, where he viewed exhibitions that explored the history of the town. Individuals from the Orpheus Centre, a charitable organization dedicated to assisting young disabled adults in acquiring life skills and of which he serves as patron, accompanied him. Sarah Brown, who is the director of Lightbox Gallery & Museum, stated: “We are very grateful to have received this visit.” Ms Brown further commented: “The duke is a wonderful advocate for arts and heritage, and our organisation is committed to ensuring that more people can access arts and heritage – and the wide-reaching benefits they bring.” Following his visit to the gallery, the duke proceeded to tour Woking’s Story, which is the town’s local history museum. There, exhibits illustrate the history of the numerous diverse communities that have resided in Woking over the centuries. Subsequently, he listened to local schoolchildren and teachers discuss the significance of the facility. Since its opening in 2007, the Lightbox Gallery & Museum has been visited by over 500,000 schoolchildren.
