An Irish police (Garda) station in County Dublin has been closed following the discovery of suspect devices. According to GardaĆ, a member of the public entered Ballyfermot Garda Station on Monday morning, bringing with them suspicious items that had been found at a nearby location. The station has been shut as a safety precaution, and an exclusion zone has been established. The Explosive Ordnance Disposal team from the Irish Defence Forces has been requested to attend. This incident follows a similar event last year, when Balbriggan Garda Station, situated in north County Dublin, was temporarily closed after an individual carried a device into the premises. On that occasion, the force indicated its belief that the device was “historical in nature.” The item was subsequently rendered stable, moved to a secure place, and destroyed in a controlled explosion.
