Nine individuals have been apprehended and accused of drug offences following the confiscation of heroin and spice during a series of law enforcement operations. On Wednesday, eight of these nine individuals appeared before magistrates, facing charges of supplying or offering to supply Class A and B drugs in Newcastle. This action followed Northumbria Police’s execution of search warrants at multiple properties on Tuesday. The individuals who have been charged range in age from 24 to 40 and reside in the West End of the city, Felling in Gateshead, or lack a fixed address. Among the seven men and two women charged, three are scheduled for a trial at Newcastle Crown Court in December, and four others will receive their sentences at a subsequent time. A fine of £6,914 was imposed on one woman, who is also required to undergo five days of rehabilitation. Separately, another man received a 12-week sentence, which was suspended for 12 months, in addition to a £239 fine. Three of the charged individuals have been remanded into custody, whereas four have been granted conditional bail pending their upcoming court hearings.
