A drug gang, comprising ten individuals, has confessed to its involvement in operations conducted from a Sheffield residence. According to South Yorkshire Police, the group seized control of a city home subsequent to pilfering the owner’s keys and bank card. They compelled the homeowner to sleep on the kitchen floor as they conducted their drug dealing activities from the premises, a method referred to as “cuckooing”. On Wednesday, at Sheffield Crown Court, the ten defendants, originating from Sheffield, Rotherham, Barnsley, Ilford, and Colchester, pleaded guilty to conspiracy to supply Class A drugs. These charges resulted from a police investigation that spanned a year. “Cuckooing” is defined as the act of appropriating an individual’s residence for illicit purposes, frequently involving drug trafficking or sex work. The individuals who entered guilty pleas are: Mohammed Othman, 29, of Club Garden Road, Sheffield; Mohammed Ali, 36, of Harwood Close, Sheffield; Sanad Ali, 23, of Washington Road, Sheffield; Kian Bruff, 18, of Coventry Road, Ilford; Mckenzie Bouzin, 19, of Middle Hay Place, Sheffield; Muad Kulaib, 25, Washington Road, Sheffield; Callum Mayo, 19, of Mapplebeck Road, Sheffield; Masimba Mwanjira, 19, of Roberts Road Colchester; Christian Mayamba, 19, of Wood Street, Barnsley, who also pleaded guilty to theft and fraud; and Jenade Brown, 20, of Ingshead Avenue, Rotherham. Bruff, Mayo, Mwanjira, and Brown have been granted bail, while the remaining defendants have been remanded in custody. Sentencing for all involved is scheduled to take place at the same court on 30 January.
