Frankie Lee Watkinson, a drug dealer, has been imprisoned after manufacturing ecstasy pills in his grandmother’s shed. His illicit operation was discovered in his relative’s garden in Thurrock, Essex. Additionally, thousands of pounds worth of cocaine were found in a safe concealed in the loft of her residence. The 31-year-old, residing at Highfield Grange Holiday Park in Clacton-on-Sea, pleaded guilty to possession with intent to supply a Class A drug (cocaine) and to producing MDMA and ecstasy. He received a five-year jail sentence at Basildon Crown Court. Det Insp Yoni Adler, from the Serious Organised Crime Unit, commented: “Watkinson showed little concern for the fallout of his offending on his wider family.” According to Essex Police, Watkinson’s grandmother’s home was subjected to a raid in January. During this operation, ecstasy pill manufacturing equipment was located in the shed, which had been designated “The Dog House.” Investigators discovered a pill press machine coated in fresh, loose powder, along with bags of suspected MDMA, gloves covered in powder, and loose pills. A subsequent search of the loft revealed a small safe that had been secured into the beams. Upon opening it with a key confiscated from Watkinson at the time of his arrest, 108g of cocaine was found, with an estimated value ranging from £4,300 to £8,600. The police force stated that officers subsequently searched Watkinson’s caravan on the north-east Essex coast, where they confiscated a customer list and 15 mobile phones. Watkinson initially contested the charges but later altered his plea. Det Insp Adler further stated: “This case shows the depths to which organised Class A drug dealers will sink to facilitate their harmful trade.” He continued, “The reality of ecstasy isn’t glamourous and it’s dealers like Watkinson, operating out of grubby, makeshift manufacturing labs, who choose what to cut the MDMA with.“By their own reckless metrics, they decide the potency and authenticity of the pills they create. “You can never be sure of what you are taking. It is a very real danger.” Post navigation Archbishop Welby’s Speech on Abuse Scandal Draws Condemnation from Victims Humberside Police Riot Response Deemed “Not Well Planned” by Officers
