An individual convicted of drug dealing, who received a four-year prison sentence in 2023, has been mandated to surrender almost £10,000 within a three-month period, or alternatively, serve an additional year in custody. Ashley Venmore, a resident of Peterborough’s West Town district, commenced his incarceration in November 2023, having pleaded guilty to 15 charges connected to drug trafficking and fraudulent activities. Following his apprehension, approximately £7,000 in currency and luxury items were confiscated. Currently, Venmore has received a directive to relinquish an additional £10,000 from his designated “available assets.” These funds are earmarked for distribution among the government, the Crown Prosecution Service, the judicial system, and law enforcement agencies. Venmore’s arrest occurred in Peterborough on 9 May 2023, subsequent to his detection operating a vehicle despite being disqualified from driving. Inquiries subsequently uncovered a significant discrepancy between the financial transactions observed in his bank accounts and his declared income. He admitted culpability for three charges of possession with intent to distribute class A narcotics, ten charges of fraud through misrepresentation, holding a counterfeit identification document, and possessing proceeds of crime. Detective Constable Andy MacDonald, affiliated with Cambridgeshire Police, stated that Venmore’s illicit enterprise yielded benefits for the dealer “to the tune of £173,171.91.” MacDonald further commented: “While he has only been ordered to pay the remaining ‘available’ assets of £10,000, the full benefit figure will remain with him for life, meaning he will be liable to having any future assets confiscated if suitable.” He also remarked that a “significant drug dealer” had been “stripped of his illicit gains.” For updates on Peterborough news, consult BBC Sounds, Facebook, Instagram, and X.
