A man has been incarcerated following a hit-and-run incident in Edinburgh that resulted in the death of a pedestrian. Ralph Fairhurst was operating a vehicle at a speed exceeding twice the legal limit when he collided with Kyle Middlemas on Easter Road on June 19, 2022. Mr. Middlemas, aged 20, was propelled a distance of 10 to 20 meters (33-66ft) into the air due to the impact and subsequently passed away in hospital ten days later. Fairhurst, 26, confessed to the offense and to absconding from the scene immediately following the collision, prior to being located by law enforcement officers later on the same day. He received a custodial sentence of four years and six months at the High Court in Glasgow. Copyright 2024 BBC. All rights reserved. The BBC is not responsible for the content of external sites.
