A man has been incarcerated after causing a collision that severely injured a motorcyclist while driving on the incorrect side of a dual carriageway. Surrey Police reported that Ardit Shehi operated his vehicle in the wrong lane on Stanwell Moor Road, Stanwell, for approximately 20 seconds before navigating a blind bend and colliding with a motorbike. The rider, a man in his twenties, was propelled into the air and over a fence, sustaining injuries described as life-changing. At Guildford Crown Court on Tuesday, Shehi, aged 35, received a sentence of three years and four months imprisonment. Shehi, a resident of Uxbridge, initially attempted to depart the scene of the crash on 3 July but was restrained by witnesses until law enforcement arrived. Charges against him included causing serious injury through dangerous driving, operating a motor vehicle without a valid licence, and using a motor vehicle on a public road without third-party insurance. Additionally, he was prohibited from driving for a period of nine years and eight months. Detective Constable Matt Lloyd stated that the incident had “truly devastating repercussions” for the victim, who will require care for the remainder of his life. Mr Lloyd commented, “Choosing to carry out dangerous manoeuvres like Shehi did here put not only himself, but all other innocent road users at risk.” He continued, “This tragic case had an entirely avoidable outcome, and I urge all motorists to think before you act when travelling on our roads.” “I hope that Shehi spends his time behind bars reflecting on the consequences of his actions.” Post navigation Former Royal Protection Officer Convicted of Misconduct Charges Dead Golden Eagle Discovered in Bag, Missing Body Parts
