The incident, which occurred in Finedon, Northamptonshire, on 22 December 2023, involved 20-year-old Cameron Arneaud being ejected from his motorbike. Syed Bukhari, aged 27, residing at Brantwood Court, Luton, admitted guilt to the charge of causing death by careless/inconsiderate driving. He was subsequently sentenced to 30 weeks in prison at Northampton Crown Court. Detective Constable Rae Pegg commented, stating: “I hope Bukhari is aware that, as result of his careless use of the road, he has left a family completely and forever heartbroken.” The incident took place on Irthlingborough Road around 21:10 GMT. At that time, Mr. Bukhari’s Toyota Prius entered the path of Mr. Arneaud’s Benelli Tornado motorcycle. In a joint statement, his parents, Alison and Dan, expressed: “No parent should bury their child.” They added, “Losing Cameron in these circumstances has broken us.” They further stated, “The stress of trying to understand and come to terms with what happened to Cameron has also had a devastating impact on his brothers and sister, who have lost their best friend and constant source of love, support and guidance.” Concluding their statement, they said, “Cameron’s promising life, just starting, was taken away by a moment of carelessness.” Additionally, Bukhari received a driving disqualification for a period of 469 days and was mandated to pay a victim surcharge of £187.
