A Nottinghamshire-based labradoodle breeder has been prohibited from conducting her business operations subsequent to her conviction for animal welfare violations. Tracy Hovell generated over £140,000 through her dog breeding enterprise, “Briemdoodles,” which she ran from her residence in Sutton-in-Ashfield. An inquiry conducted by Ashfield District Council revealed that the 62-year-old had committed several infractions, such as excessive breeding, neglecting to keep puppies with their mothers, and failing to ensure continuous access to fresh drinking water. Her sentencing occurred on Monday, subsequent to a trial held at Nottingham Magistrates’ Court. Hovel, whose current address is Queen Street, Worksop, was convicted of six violations under the Animal Welfare Regulations 2018. Furthermore, she neglected to prevent the dissemination of infectious diseases and parasites and did not furnish the local authority with the requested records pertaining to the dogs utilized for breeding and the puppies that were born and sold. Hovell has received a disqualification preventing her from animal ownership, involvement in animal keeping, animal dealing, and animal transportation. The court determined that she was permitted to retain one of her dogs as a personal pet. Hovell, previously residing at Parkway, Sutton-in-Ashfield, also received an £800 fine, was mandated to pay £3,000 in costs, and a victim surcharge of £360. Tom Hollis, the deputy leader at Ashfield District Council, stated: “It is important animals are protected against unscrupulous breeders.” He added: “Where people do breed in Ashfield, the council will ensure regulations are adhered to, to ensure the health, wellbeing and welfare of the animals are protected.” Post navigation Vigil Held for Harshita Brella, Suspected Murder Victim Cyclist Critically Injured in Exmouth Hit-and-Run
