A medical practitioner has been removed from the professional register after being found to have urinated in a consultation room sink and not complied with restrictions on his registration. The individual, identified as Graham Evangele Eli Michael Holmes, was employed as a locum consultant across various locations, including Hampshire, Dorset, Greater Manchester, and the Wirral. Additionally, a hearing determined that he informed a female patient that she required a CT scan “to see if she had a brain”, or a similar statement. The Medical Practitioners Tribunal Service (MPTS) concluded that there was “no evidence of an acknowledgment, appreciation of, or apology for, his proven serious misconduct”. The tribunal also established that Dr. Holmes was employed at multiple hospitals during the period spanning August 2019 to March 2021. In August 2019, at the Gosport War Memorial Hospital in Hampshire, a colleague reported overhearing Dr. Holmes make the comment about the scan to the woman, though the patient herself did not perceive it. Dr. Holmes, described as being in his 70s, informed the regulatory body that he had no recollection of uttering the remark. A different colleague at the same facility stated they observed him through an internal window as he urinated into a sink, simultaneously pouring water from a cup into it. Issues were also identified regarding his compliance with Covid-19 infection control protocols during his tenure at the Royal Bournemouth Hospital in Dorset in 2020. A manager at the Royal Albert Edward Infirmary in Wigan, Greater Manchester, also in 2020, characterized him as the “worst member of staff for not wearing his mask properly”. Furthermore, it was established that Dr. Holmes had intentionally disregarded conditions imposed on his registration for a period of six weeks while employed by the Wirral University Teaching Hospital NHS Trust in 2021. The regulatory authority deemed this particular action deliberate and the “most serious” aspect of his misconduct.
