Dundee’s manager, Tony Docherty, has expressed “really confident” that his team will soon convert their strong performances into victories. Although the Dark Blues have displayed moments of quality football this season, they have secured only three wins across 12 league matches to date. Prior to Saturday’s match against bottom-ranked Hibs, Docherty stated: “I’m really confident because you need, especially when you are in my position, to trust the process.” He continued: “There has to be a belief and a trust from the players. If I don’t believe it they won’t believe it.” Docherty also noted: “It is important to remember, I think we lost 19 players and brought in 15 this year, so there is a time for them all to gel. But I see the hard work and conscientious players that are buying in to what we are doing.” He elaborated: “That is a process, within that process there has to be individual development and improvement in individual players, but as a collective you need to see that consistency of performance.” “I am confident that if we keep working the way we are, if we keep that trust and belief, then those consistent performances will lead to results,” Docherty affirmed. Despite Dundee’s inconsistent performance record, the team currently holds a favorable seventh position in the league standings, though only four points separate them from the bottom. Docherty further commented: “It is documented we have made a lot of individual mistakes but the important bit for that is learning.” He emphasized: “It is a young squad, it is important that we address things honestly.” “There has been a lot to like about our positive play but we need to try and develop individuals and have a performance level that is consistent that would allow us to pick up results,” he concluded.
