A garden centre in Warwickshire, Dobbies Stratford-upon-Avon, has confirmed its closure on December 23 as part of a broader company restructure. The announcement was made on its website, where the company also extended thanks to its customers for their support. This specific Dobbies location is one of 17 outlets slated to close before the year’s end, a strategic move aimed at safeguarding the company’s long-term future. A closing-down sale is currently in progress at the Warwick Road premises, which also incorporates a restaurant and a soft play area for children. The impending closures will impact a total of 465 jobs across the firm’s garden centres and high street stores. Following these closures, 60 Dobbies locations will remain operational, with the closest to Stratford-upon-Avon being approximately 20 miles (32.1km) away in Rugby. Other garden centre sites affected by the closures include Gloucester, Altrincham, Gosforth, Huntingdon, King’s Lynn, and Pennine. Additionally, Little Dobbies shops situated in Cheltenham, Bristol, Chiswick, Richmond, Stockbridge, and Westbourne Grove are also scheduled to cease operations. The company previously issued a statement indicating that the restructure would “return Dobbies to sustainable profitability through site rationalisations, rent reductions, and other tangible cost savings.”
