A revised proposal for the construction of 38 residences in Shrewsbury has been put forward by developers. Living Space Housing submitted this plan for a site located to the west and south of Cedars Drive, near Ellesmere Road. The current scheme represents a reduction of six homes, a modification made following feedback received from Shropshire Council. A planning and design statement accompanying the submission indicated that, notwithstanding its position outside the town’s development boundary, the location is still considered acceptable due to its close proximity to local services. The public has an opportunity to provide feedback on these plans online until December 12. The statement further elaborated, stating, “Shrewsbury and the wider county currently have a significant undersupply of affordable housing and therefore the provision of a 100% affordable scheme in this context would weigh heavily in favour of the proposal.” Additionally, it affirmed that the proposed site access was safe and suitable for the intended development, and that the scheme would not adversely affect the local highway network.
