Two police officers sustained injuries when their patrol vehicle was intentionally struck in Crossmaglen, County Armagh, on Tuesday morning. The incident occurred around 05:30 GMT while the officers were on patrol, after a suspicious vehicle did not stop as requested in Cardinal O’Fiaich Square. Law enforcement officers pursued the black Volkswagen CC to North Street, where it subsequently rammed their patrol car, resulting in damage and injuries to the officers within. An additional vehicle parked in the vicinity also incurred damage. The Volkswagen subsequently fled the scene towards Carran Road. Authorities stated that the vehicle’s hazardous driving made it impossible for other officers in the vicinity to safely persist with the pursuit without creating a substantial danger to the public.
