Chanel Fong, 31, from Wrexham, has denied being the owner of a dog implicated in the fatal attack on her father-in-law. At Mold Crown Court, Ms. Fong, visibly upset, pleaded “not guilty” to the sole charge she faces. She is accused of owning an American XL bully dog named Cookie, which prosecutors assert was dangerously out of control during the incident. The dog reportedly bit Keven Jones, 65, on the leg in May 2022, causing injuries from which he subsequently died. A plea and case management hearing revealed that the incident occurred at Ms. Fong’s home on Holt Road, Wrexham. Judge Rhys Rowlands informed her that her trial is set for October 2025. She was granted bail until then, under the condition that she remains in contact with her solicitors.
