Police reported that a deceased golden eagle, from which body parts had been extracted, was discovered discarded in a plastic bag. The discovery of the bird occurred on a forestry track situated off the A81, close to Loch Rusky, specifically north east of Port of Monteith within Loch Lomond and The Trossachs National Park. An inquiry has commenced subsequent to this finding, which took place around 11:00 on Tuesday, July 30. In a separate incident, RSPB Scotland announced that a red kite perished due to a prohibited pesticide in Sutherland. A police spokesperson stated: “Golden eagles are protected under the Wildlife and Countryside Act 1981 and anyone with information is asked to contact Police Scotland.” Investigations have been progressing, and officers are now seeking public assistance to ascertain the circumstances of its presence. The police force is additionally participating in the investigation concerning the red kite’s demise. RSPB Scotland reported that this bird of prey, which is also a protected species, was discovered by a dog walker in April at Spinningdale, close to Dornoch. According to RSPB Scotland, the findings from a post-mortem examination and toxicology analysis indicated consistency with Carbofuran poisoning. This pesticide has been prohibited for over two decades.
