David Taylor has entered a not guilty plea to a charge of attempting to murder a detective within a maximum security prison. He stands accused of assaulting an officer from Greater Manchester Police on 23 July, during an interview conducted at HMP Frankland in Durham. Mr. Taylor, aged 62 and previously residing in Willington, County Durham, formally denied the attempted murder charge during his appearance at Teesside Crown Court on Friday. While a trial had initially been scheduled for February, the court was informed that it might be relocated to Manchester to be consolidated with a separate legal matter.
