Dartford MP Jim Dickson organized a discussion regarding assisted dying on Thursday evening, in advance of a parliamentary debate. Representatives from Care Not Killing and Dignity In Dying presented arguments both for and against amending the current legislation at the event. The specific venue was disclosed exclusively to ticketholders. On Friday, the House of Commons is scheduled to debate proposed legislation that would grant terminally ill adults in England and Wales the right to choose to end their lives. Dickson stated on Thursday, “Ahead of the debate on the Bill in Parliament, I’m holding an event to hear from expert speakers on both sides of the debate as well as you, the constituents of Dartford.” He further commented, “This is a complex issue, so it’s important to me that I hear the facts from experts and your views before the debate.” Dr Mark Pickering represented Care Not Killing, and Simon Sanberg represented Dignity in Dying during the event.
