Manager Oliver Glasner has confirmed that Crystal Palace forward Eberechi Eze and midfielder Adam Wharton are expected to be sidelined for approximately one month due to injuries. These setbacks follow the team’s recent achievement of back-to-back victories. Both athletes sustained their injuries and exited the field during the Eagles’ Carabao Cup last-16 victory over Aston Villa in midweek. Wharton is scheduled for surgery to address a groin problem, while Eze is recovering from a hamstring injury. Glasner commented on Eze’s recovery, stating, “It will be very ambitious to have [Eze] back after the [mid-November] international break, but I know we have a great medical department and he will work quite hard, so let’s see.” Regarding Wharton, Glasner explained, “We took the final decision [on Wharton], he will have surgery. He tried [training] but the pain is too much and then it makes no sense. He has really struggled in the last weeks and months.” He further added, “So now we took the decision to have the surgery, and we hope to have him back after maybe four weeks.” Crystal Palace, having achieved their initial Premier League victory of the season last weekend with a 1-0 win against Tottenham, is scheduled to play away against Wolves, another team facing challenges, this Saturday. Additionally, the team will be without Colombian midfielder Jefferson Lerma, who is sidelined with a hamstring issue, until at least the international break commencing on 11 November. Glasner also remarked, “Many managers are talking about the same issues, and especially when we look at our injured players – all who played a long tournament in the summer, having no holidays, having no pre-season and then many, many games.” He concluded this point by saying, “There is a moment when you have to pay the bill, and we had to pay it the last one, two, three weeks, but it is how it is and we are still a strong squad.” Post navigation Stefanos Tsitsipas Labels Extended Masters Events a “Backwards Move” Amid Scheduling Debate Weekend Premiership Fixture: Aberdeen v St Johnstone
