Crystal Palace visited Molineux on the back of a strong run, having achieved their inaugural Premier League victory of the season against Tottenham last weekend and a win over Aston Villa in the EFL Cup during the week. Trevoh Chalobah’s initial goal was merited, as the Eagles had generated more favorable scoring opportunities in the first half and as the game developed in the second period. Nevertheless, the visitors, without key players Eberechi Eze and Adam Wharton, conceded a goal against a Wolves side aiming for their first win of the season. Marc Guehi’s equalizer, a tap-in at the back post, was seen as a just reward for the numerous chances Crystal Palace created. A potential winning goal for Crystal Palace by Jean-Philippe Mateta in the 96th minute was disallowed due to what was judged to be a foul on Wolves goalkeeper Jose Sa. Consequently, Mateta’s low drive was ruled out, and manager Oliver Glasner had to settle for a share of the points. Crystal Palace can derive confidence from a positive week of results but must continue to earn points to increase their distance from the relegation zone.
