Lily Woodham, a defender for Crystal Palace, has expressed confidence in the newly-promoted Women’s Super League team’s ability to remain in the top division, noting there is “still a buzz” around the club. Woodham, a Wales international, is currently on loan to Palace from Seattle Reign, with her tenure set to conclude at the end of January. Crystal Palace, known as The Eagles, is participating in the WSL for the first time this season and currently sits 10th in the standings, having accumulated five points from their initial seven matches. Speaking on BBC Radio 5 Live’s Women’s Football Weekly podcast, Woodham affirmed her belief in the team’s prospects, stating, “For every team that comes up it’s about staying in the league and I think Palace are so capable of doing that.” She further added, “There’s a great staff group and some incredible players so I think it’ll be fine and everyone’s still excited, it’s still a buzz.” Woodham also highlighted the presence of a “special group” within the club, specifically mentioning her enjoyment of playing for boss Laura Kaminski. Describing Kaminski, Woodham remarked, “She’s such a character, she’s so funny,” and elaborated, “She is so kind but when you need to be told, she’s ready to be able to give you that advice and information as are all the coaches so it’s a real special group being here.”
