William Coull, 36, known for organizing the widely reported Wonka experience in Glasgow, has appeared before Glasgow Sheriff Court from custody. He is facing an accusation of rape, alongside a distinct allegation of sexual assault. During a private hearing, Mr. Coull, who resides in Knightswood, did not enter a plea regarding either charge. Sheriff Gerard Bonnar subsequently granted him bail and ordered his commitment for additional examination. A specific date for his next court appearance has not yet been established. In February, Mr. Coull garnered global attention when images of his peculiar and underwhelming Wonka event, for which tickets cost £35, circulated widely across social media platforms. “Willy’s Chocolate Experience” was promoted by Mr. Coull using fantastical depictions of candy-themed environments, drawing inspiration from the Roald Dahl character and the Wonka cinematic productions. However, attendees discovered an “abandoned and empty warehouse” containing uninspiring props, where performers delivered lines from an AI-generated script. Parents present outside the event accused Mr. Coull, whose House of Illuminati firm operated the experience, of “scamming children.” He subsequently pledged that all individuals who purchased tickets would receive refunds.
