A couple has appeared before a court in Liverpool, facing accusations of assaulting their three-month-old son. Klevi Pirjani, 36, and Nivalda Santos Pirjani, 33, are both charged with inflicting grievous bodily harm upon their son, Miguel Pirjani. Miguel passed away within days following the reported assault. The two defendants, residents of Seacombe, Wirral, participated in a hearing at Liverpool Crown Court remotely, connecting via video link from distinct correctional facilities. Honorary Recorder of Liverpool Judge Andrew Menary KC said a trial would take place on either May 19 or September 22 next year with both defendants remanded in custody. A hearing for plea entry and trial preparation has been scheduled for January 27. An interpreter was also present during the video link proceedings. According to a spokesperson for Merseyside Police, officers responded to calls regarding concerns for a child at a Seacombe residence around 12:00 GMT on Sunday, November 24. Miguel received hospital treatment but was declared deceased on Friday, November 29.
